Light falls onto a transparent thing that has many surfaces and edges and which extends in a magical way into the space. It shines light where there was no light previously, using colours that previously did not exist. It is a symbol for the variety of perceptions that the collective around Rotem Weissman uses to deal with the effects of prisms. They disperse information in the most diverse ways and always carry a spark of magic. For example, a furry thing might appear, for which you cannot determine exactly where is up and down, or whether it wants to be a plant, an animal or something in between. Everyone in the audience will discover something different here! Like in a daydream, situations and objects are decoupled from their known meaning and new connections are being created. This creates new worlds that want to be discovered.
The Israeli choreographer Rotem Weissman plays with the interacition between concrete bodies and abstract imagination. After her dance training, she studied choreography at SEAD in Salzburg. Residencies and scholarships brought her to Studio Alta (in the Czech Republic), to Tanz Station (DE), to the Mifal Hapais Cultural Foundation and to Dis-Tanz Solo. Her production “Bauhaus” was awarded second prize at the international choreography competition in Jerusalem.
