What remains
Workshop with Zoë Demoustier
as part of the symposium
We are starting with the body and its memories. Through simple, playful exercises, participants experiment with intergenerational movement approaches and reflect on how cultural heritage can become new shared material. Belgian choreographer and performer Zoe Demoustier combines contemporary dance with physical mime, physical theatre and drawing exercises. The workshop is open to people of all ages from diverse backgrounds and requires no prior dance experience.

Zoë Demoustier is a Belgian choreographer and performer. Her work treats the body as both a starting point and an archive, using choreographic forms to interweave movement, memory and social issues. Her works include “Unfolding an Archive” and the acclaimed large-scale production “What Remains” (both produced by Ultima Vez).
“What Remains” premiered in 2023 and features performers with an age difference of 70 years. The piece is currently touring nationally and internationally.
She herself began dancing at the age of eight with Kabinet K and later, at fABULEUS, she brings her first-hand experience of intergenerational work to both her artistic practice and her teaching. In 2027, her piece “A wave” will have its world premiere at the Opera Ballet of Flanders.
