Participation as an Artistic Practice
Workshop with Micaela Kühn Jara
as part of the symposium
This workshop is aimed at dance artists who work with participatory processes or wish to do so, who lead workshops, or who integrate interactive elements into their stage work. Dramaturgs, curators, programme planners and anyone wishing to explore this approach in greater depth from an artistic or conceptual perspective are also welcome.
The workshop combines physical practice with dramaturgical reflection. Micaela Kühn Jara shares choreographic and dramaturgical tools from a variety of working contexts: from touring productions in schools and the adaptation of existing works into participatory formats to fully interactive stage pieces and workshop formats.
Participants are welcome to bring a project idea, a project in development, or questions regarding outreach, dramaturgy or programming practice to be addressed during the workshop.

Micaela Kühn Jara works in the fields of dance and education, with a particular interest in participation and young audiences. With a background as a dancer, her work now encompasses production, education, conceptualisation and research. She is Creative Producer at Alfredo Zinola Productions. She is also an artistic advisor for the Dansehallerne (Denmark) programme for young audiences, which brings dance into schools through hybrid formats. In addition, she is a guest lecturer on the Dance and Participation (MFA) programme at the Danish National School of Performing Arts, teaching on topics such as participation, artistic-pedagogical practice, inclusion and creative practice. The connection between pedagogical and artistic practice forms the starting point for her work.
