Polymer DMT / Fang Yun Lo (D/TW)
ALS ICH IN DEINEM ALTER WAR
Our grandparents are special people. They grew up in a different world. When they were children, there was no internet or social media, no TikTok and no television. Some shared a bedroom with several siblings. Some came from other countries and didn’t understand what the children were talking about at school. The dancer and choreographer Fang Yun Lo invited children to ask their grandparents questions in various workshops: What was it like for you when you were our age? What did you dream of, and what were you afraid of?
These conversations have now been transformed into a dance theatre piece that encourages us to approach our own grandparents from new perspectives.
Fang Yun Lo, born in Taiwan in 1982, studied dance in Taipei and dance and choreography at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Since 2011, under the label Polymer DMT, she has been creating dance pieces, video works and interactive media installations in collaboration with artists from a wide range of disciplines.
