ICH KANN'S NICHT LASSEN
A participatory piece featuring krump dancers
Who owns the stage? That’s the question four krump dancers ask themselves, drawing the audience into the spotlight. Krump is a dance style that has only recently made its way onto the stage. Dancers from Africa brought this dance culture to the streets of LA as a form of protest against social inequality and discrimination. The Krump community fosters a sense of togetherness; it’s about showing oneself and supporting one another.
Choreographer Janne Gregor translates this self-empowering Krump ethos into the theatre space, breaking down the usual hierarchies between audience and performers. Dance becomes a means of communication, and every performance a unique experience that makes you realise why you simply cannot stop dancing. The audience is on the move during the performance. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes!
