Who is included? Who is inside and who is not? And why? Tabea Martin and four dancers engage with the power of exclusion. With a virtuoso ease, she uses dance and language to examine how prejudices and fears of the unfamiliar shape the dynamic between people. What glasses should you wear to really see more clearly?
Tabea Martin was born in Switzerland and studied modern dance at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and, among others, danced with Piet Rogie & Company in Holland, Fabian Chyle in Stuttgart, and Nick Bryson in Ireland. In 2006, she completed her choreography studies at the Rotterdamse Dansacademie. Since 2009, Tabea Martin has been creating works for children that can be seen all over Europe. In 2011, she received the Wim Bary Prize for her extensive choreographic oeuvre. In 2015, she was awarded the Spezialpreis of the Berner Tanzpreise. 2016 saw her winning the category prize for dance at the Kanton Basellandschaft. Beyond her free productions, Tabea Martin also choreographs for municipal theatres, including the Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and the Theater Neumarkt. She regularly works with Sebastian Nübling, Sibylle Berg, Elina Finkel, and Anna Bergmann, among others.
