Compagnie Oorkaan und Cello8ctet Amsterdam (Netherlands)

“Cello Storm” is a concert, and a very special one: Eight cellists tell the story of the pigeon called Pigeon, who wants nothing more than a friend. So it flies off, across the jungle, steppe, sea, and desert. It meets the strangest characters - but it doesn't find a friend. Suddenly, the wind blows it into a cold place, and the unexpected happens ...

“Cello Storm” has no words at all, but relies on humour and the power of compositions by Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, Astor Piazzolla, and John Adams.

The Cello8ctet is a unique ensemble about which the world-famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma said: “This ensemble is a treasure!” The Compagnie Oorkaan - a play on words made up of ears and hurricanes - was founded in Amsterdam in 2000. Guest performances have taken Oorkaan not only through Europe, but also to the USA, Canada, Brazil, and China.
